Crossing the Congressional Finish Line: What's Next for the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act
On November 5th, the U.S. House of Representatives joined the Senate in passing the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA), with President Joe Biden signing into law on November 15th. This $1.2 trillion bipartisan legislation is the culmination of decades of advocacy by ASCE members who worked tirelessly to educate Congress and the public about the role infrastructure plays in supporting the economy and our quality of life in communities both large and small. The bill represents a historic, once-in-a-generation investment in our roads, bridges, water and wastewater facilities, ports, electric grid, dams, and more. It increases funding, makes smart improvements to policy such as streamlining permitting, and it creates new programs targeted at almost all 17 categories in the 2021 Report Card for America’s Infrastructure.

Join ASCE’s Government Relations and Infrastructure Initiatives team for a special member briefing on the passage of the IIJA, providing a high-level overview of the bill and discussing its new grant programs and the transformative opportunities within the IIJA at the state level. The briefing will take place on Thursday, November 18th from 4:00 – 5:00 pm Eastern Time.
